Alexander Madness

“Music is movement, variation, imagination
and eternity. In other words:
the future of sustainable energy. As a
DJ I try to transfer and receive that
form of energy from and to the people
on the dance floor - mixing minimal
techno tracks with electro house floor
fillers. For the rough cases I always
carry progressive and electro tracks
in my DJ bag.”

Alexander Madness (AM) discovered daylight in 1978 in Koper, Slovenia. Already his mother knew that music is going to be one of his main interests: As a kid he always liked to stand in front of roaring speakers. Before diving into the universe of electronic music,
Alexander was listening to rock, pop and all the other genres that are usually popular among the youth.

”I first got to feel the magic of electronic music in 1996, when sounds of fast hardcore hit my ears. Because that kind of music was rare at that time, I soon switched to slower rhythms of chemical progressive.”

In 1998, AM first stepped behind the decks and immediately felt the connection – and it’s still lasting. Like any other DJ he realized that the beginnings were not easy. His first gigs were played at local bars and private parties, but his technique evolved within years, as did his passion for the music.

In the past years he was switching from one e-genre to another until he really got into techno, which he still prefers. He plays mostly minimal/techno and electro/house but in his DJ case you’ll also find progressive and electro tracks.

He has been playing in all the major and recognized clubs, such as Ambasada Gavioli, Lipa, SubSub, K4,The Temple, Fun Academy, Oxygen, Netopir, The Club, The Cube, Playtime, Forest, Tivoli, Arcade, Culture club and many more. He participated also on Final Flash, Fetique-Boutique, Born to be Wild, The way of Freedom and Sound Of Summer events.

Throughout his eight year run and after AM’s guest appearances in numerous venues in Slovenia, Croatia and Italy, AM has also shared the spotlight with some of the industries best DJ’s. Some of his collaborations include artists such as Valentino Kanzyani, Andy Moor, The Filterheadz, Richard Bartz, Len Faki, Bryan Cox, Oxia, Joris Voorn, Matthew Dekay, Seamus Haji, Danilo Vigorito, dA frESh, Mashtronic, Electrixx, Ade Fanton, Virgin Helena, Paul Hazendonk, Petar Dundov, Jamie Bissmire and many more.

M.U.M & 1605 Sessions Presents Miami Sessions with Umek Live@Nikki Beach- Miami Beach-Florida - M.U.M Episode 130

Rod B. & Alvaro Garfunk bring you the Miami Underground Movement

DJ UMEK
For a long time, Slovenia is known for its great electronic parties, but as the local scene is of boutique dimensions, everyone, who wishes to take the art of mixing and producing to a professional level, has to go out there and enter the worldwide scene. Umek has done this step as early as in the middle of the 90s and so he became one of the most important techno players of the global techno scene, even before the end of the last millennium. Together with people, who shared the same views, he successfully captured the first era of researching and recreating the rules of the dance music in Recycled Loops, Consumer Recreation and Astrodisco platforms, which all put the sound of the Slovenian techno on the world map of electronic music.
In the beginning of the year 2007, Umek started a new 1605 Music Therapy - Sixteenofive, with which he marked the beginning of the second era of his music creation and what an era it is. 5 highly popular releases on the 1605 label with lots more planned in the next few months, a huge success of the »Day Of Electronics 09« - the main 1605 event in Krizanke (Ljubljana, Slovenia) for the third year in a row, a popular summer festival »Disconautica« (Koper, Slovenia) featuring 1605 Main Floor for the second year in a row and with over 50.000 attending people. Furthermore the 15 astonishing releases and remixes already released in 2009 are the best proof, that Umek stays focused on his primary goal – to make high quality productions that stand out from the rest and to bring this music closer to people all around the world.
The year 2009 also brought a fresh breeze in Umek’s booking department and so his new booking agency is Bullitt Bookings from the USA, that also takes care of some of the biggest names, like Dubfire, Nic Fanciulli, Shlomi Aber, Davide Squillace and many others.
Last year's releases like Is it / Longer Trail, Destructible Enviroment, S Cream, Designed Persona, You Might Hear Nothing and the latest club hit Work This Data, have caught the attention of Armada, Hell Yeah, Tronic, Dataworx and other biggest labels of the music industry and judging by Umek's tracks »Hablando« and »Slap«, released on his own label 1605, by the enormous amount of upcoming releases and the second (and first on 1605 label) album with his 10 great tracks “Responding To Dynamic” (coming in spring 2010), Umek surely isn’t going to run out of creative fuel for quite some time.

M.U.M Presents Miami Sessions Darren Emerson- M.U.M Episode 129 Rod B. & Alvaro Garfunk bring you the Miami Underground Movement

Darren Emerson is one of the most influential figures in dance music, his 17 year career has seen him work with everyone from Depeche Mode to Jamie Cullum with numerous hit albums and singles as well as music synched to computer games and films.

Arguably best known for his work with Rick Smith and Karl Hyde, Darren joined Underworld when he was 18 years old, the band released three albums: ‘Dubnobasswithmyheadman', ‘Second Toughest in the Infants' and ‘Beaucoup Fish'. Underworld have sold over a million albums worldwide, featured two tracks on Danny Boyles Oscar nominated classic "Trainspotting" and are renowned for their stunning and unpredictable live shows. The hits include Cowgirl, Rez, Dark and Long and Born Slippy – all classics.

2000 saw Emerson leave Underworld and go solo. Although the band had been his passion for 10 years, it was time to branch out; concentrate on his record label and work with different producers. The first collaboration saw Emerson and DJ cohort Sasha produce the Ibiza classic ‘Scorchio'. Two Global Underground compilations soon followed; ‘Uruguay' and ‘Singapore' and the hugely succesfull Underwater Episodes. All proving that Emerson was back to doing what he does best; showcasing everything from deeper house through to jackin' techno cuts. Darren has also remixed tracks for everyone from The Prodigy to Everything But The Girl and Gus Gus.

In 1994 Darren Emerson started Underwater records, initially to release music for his friends, the label has seen releases from Steve Mac, Paul Woolford, Josh Wink, Gus Gus, Joel Mull, Smith & Selway, Paul Jackson, and Tim Deluxe – whose ‘Sirens/ We All Love Sax' and ‘It Just Won't Do' helped put Underwater firmly on the map. In 2003 Underwater was voted label of the year by DJ Mag and continues to go from strength to strength releasing albums and singles from its ever growing and increasingly varied roster of artists.

Darren recently released his third Global Underground compilation 'Bogota'. His debut solo artist album is now finished and will be backed with a plethora of club tracks meanwhile he continues his relentless globe trotting DJ schedule.
